Healthy Meals for all Youth Ages 5-18
CLEVELAND – The City of Cleveland’s after school meals program will begin on September 3, 2013. School children ages 5 through 18 can enjoy a healthy meal after school at any city recreation center. This United States Department of Agriculture program is administered by the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) and locally sponsored by the Children’s Hunger Alliance. There is no cost to families for participating in this program.
After school meals will be served Monday through Friday when the Cleveland Metropolitan School District is in session and during winter and spring breaks. Meals will not be served during snow days and holidays.
The menu will consist of meat, vegetable and/or fruit, bread and milk prepared by a food service company in compliance with ODE guidelines and served by recreation center staff.
Each recreation center will serve meals to students at varying times between 3:00 and 6:30 pm. Please see a list of times and locations for after school meals below. The public can also access the list by going to www.cleveland-oh.gov or calling 664-2561.
