Mayor Jackson declares March “Enroll Cleveland” month

Cleveland, Ohio — With the March 31st deadline for enrollment in a Health Care  Marketplace plan quickly approaching, Cleveland Mayor Frank G. Jackson has  declared March “Enroll Cleveland” month.
“Your health and the health of your family should be a priority for you. You should be able to seek out preventative health care and you shouldn’t have to choose between seeing a doctor and other necessities,” said Mayor Jackson. “The Affordable Care Act will help you get the medical care you need and the time to enroll is now.”

  • Members of the Northeast Ohio Outreach & Enrollment Council are gearing up for a full slate of education and enrollment events. Mayor Jackson’s “Enroll Cleveland” month will include:
  • A Phone-A-Thon on February 28 with News Net 5 (WEWS) to help residents  with questions and get connected to local navigators;
  • Presence at the Cleveland Auto Show from March 1 – 9 to talk with navigators and schedule appointments for in-person assistance;
  • Education and enrollment with Dr. R.A. Vernon and local navigators at The WORD Church on March 15 & 16; and A visit from Enroll America’s National Director, Anne Filipic, touring Ohio on their Get Covered Bus on March 19.

Residents are encouraged to call 2-1-1, the United Way of Cleveland’s First Call for Help hotline, to get connected with local help or find out about events in their neighborhood. Trained and certified navigators are available for in-person appointments throughout Northeast Ohio. During an appointment, a navigator will help residents select the best coverage option to meet their health needs and budget or enroll in expanded Medicaid. When meeting with a navigator in-person, residents should bring:

  • Social Security numbers (or document numbers, for legal immigrants);
  • Pay stubs, W-2 forms, or “Wage and Tax Statements”;
  • Policy numbers for any current health insurance; and,
  • Information about any health insurance available from employer (your employer or the employer of a family member).

Join the more than 4 million Americans who have selected quality health care plans! For information on enrollment events or local navigators in your neighborhood, please call 2-1-1 or visit the United Way of Cleveland’s 2-1-1 First
