New Project will Repair Driving Surface of I-71 Bridge over the Jennings

CLEVELAND  – This weekend crews on behalf of ODOT will begin a project to repair the driving surface of the 1,810 foot-long bridge which carries I-71 north over the Jennings Freeway (near MetroHealth & Steelyard Commons).

Beginning Friday evening, August 14, the left lane closure which is already in place on I-71 north approaching the George V. Voinovich Bridge will be extended and will begin before the Metro Curve. This will remain in place until about August 22.

In order to implement the lane closure and perform work associated with the GVV Bridge project, the eastbound lanes of I-90 over the GVV Bridge will be closed this weekend between I-490 and I-77 from 7 p.m. Friday through 6 a.m. Monday, August 14-17. Motorists approaching the bridge on both I-71 and I-90 should “Opt for the Alternate!” Use I-490 east to I-77 north to bypass construction.

As part of the same construction contract, crews will also repair the driving surface of the I-480 east bridge over the Rocky River between Clague and Grayton Roads. Work at this location is anticipated to take place during the spring of 2016. Details will be forthcoming.
