Stop the Hate! 2016 Finalists Visit Cleveland City Hall (PHOTOS)

Nine student finalists from the annual Stop the Hate! Youth Speak Out! essay contest were welcomed by Mayor Frank G. Jackson and Eric Gordon, Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD), CEO, and Monyka Price, City of Cleveland Chief of Education, along with the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage Executive Director Ellen Rudolph and Education and Public Programs Director Jeffery Allen to Cleveland City Hall. The students were accompanied by their family members and guardians for their visit to Cleveland City Hall.

The Maltz Museum was founded in a collaboration between The Maltz Family Foundation, the Jewish Federation of Cleveland’s Centennial Initiative and The Temple-Tifereth Israel with research support from the Western Reserve Historical Society. Mr. Milton Maltz, cofounder, and his wife, Tamar, are very active and extremely passionate about the mission of the museum.

The Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage challenged students in grades 6-12 to take personal responsibility to combat hatred, discrimination and intolerance by participating in the Stop the Hate: Youth Speak Out! essay contest. The Stop the Hate! Youth Speak Out! essay contest is an initiative that supports Cleveland’s mission to build bridges of appreciation, tolerance and understanding.

Thousands of local students entered the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage 2016 Essay Contest for middle and high school students to share their thoughts on ending intolerance and the winners received prizes for their essays. The winning high school students are:
