CANTON, OH – July 10, 2020 – Goodwill Industries of Greater Cleveland and East Central Ohio, Inc. (“Goodwill”) appointed four new members to its Board of Directors in June. Exiting from their roles on the Board were: Joann Johns a community volunteer, Gregory Luntz of NAI Spring, Dennis Ritzel of Darone Financial Services, Inc. and Larry Smerglia of UBS Financial Services, Inc.
The outgoing Board members served in a variety of leadership roles during their time on the Board and collectively volunteered for the agency for more than 50 years. “There are no words to truly express how grateful we are for the leadership and guidance Joann, Greg, Dennis and Larry gave to Goodwill,” said President and CEO Anne Richards. “Their impact can be seen through the growth of our retail operations and the outreach to thousands in our communities.”
Joining the Board of Directors for three-year terms are the following community leaders:
Rabbi Jonathan Adland has been an active religious and community leader for more than 40 years. He served as Rabbi of Temple Israel in Canton, Ohio until his recent retirement in 2019. He formerly served congregations in Indianapolis, IN and Lexington, KY. Born in Washington, DC, and raised in Chevy Chase, MD, Rabbi Adland graduated from Washington University in St. Louis and the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion. Rabbi Adland serves on the Boards for Coming Together Stark County, Canton Rotary and dedicates his time as a lecturer and volunteer for several causes.
Marcie Finney, MS, MBA is the Executive Director of the Cleveland Cord Blood Center. The Westlake resident has dedicated her professional career to the study and adoption of cord blood in clinical settings. She joined the Cleveland Cord Blood Center more than
a decade ago and was named to the Executive Director position in 2016. Ms. Finney graduated from Slippery Rock University and has earned her Master of Business Administration and Master of Science (Chemistry) from Case Western Reserve University. Marcie is a highly published professional and active in the medical and non-profit community.
Cleo Lucas was a longtime educator and administrator with Canton City Schools. She has also worked in outreach and consulting positions with the Ohio Department of Education, Canton City Health Department, and the Lorraine Monroe Leadership
Institute. She is an active community leader and currently serves on Boards for Delta Sigma Theta, Canton City Health Department, Fatherhood Coalition and Family Court Citizens Review Board. Ms. Lucas earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Kent State University.
Daniel McFadden is the Director of Operations for North America at The Timken Company. He has spent much of his career with The Timken Company and Danaher serving in leadership positions at facilities throughout the United States including Illinois, North and South Carolina and New Hampshire. Mr. McFadden has degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Engineering Management from The Ohio State University and Case Western Reserve University, respectively. “New Board members bring fresh ideas and a unique perspective, something that is so vital to our agency in order to continually grow and make positive change,” said Richards. “We
appreciate the dedication and leadership of our volunteers…those who have completed their service with us and those who are just beginning.”
