Health Career Pathway High Tech Academy (HTA), established in 2000, is a tuition-free program for eligible Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) students, and the Health Career Pathway will provide opportunities for students to explore health career options and enroll in college-level courses required to pursue health careers.
HTA’s Health Career Pathway will help to prepare more talented youth for health care careers, one of Northeast Ohio’s largest employment sectors.
HEALTH CAREER PATHWAY
Students in High Tech Academy’s (HTA) Health Career Pathway who continue their education at Tri-C
following high school graduation, will benefit from special support services. Students who have an
interest in transferring to a four‑year institution after graduation, will be linked with counseling staff who will assist them in preparing for their transition. Scholarships are available for qualified students
who have unmet financial need to assist them in continuing their enrollment at Tri-C during their
summer semesters and after high school graduation.
To participate in HTA’s Health Career Pathway
Students must:
• Be a junior or senior currently enrolled in High
Tech Academy (HTA)*
• Maintain excellent attendance (98%-100%)
• Maintain high academic standard (3.0-4.0 GPA)
• Maintain a high standard of conduct
• Attend 6 student success workshops or career seminars each year
• Complete at least 15 hours of community service each year
To apply, students must:
• Submit a completed application packet (with an essay and 2 letters of recommendation)
• Complete college English and mathematics assessments with appropriate placement results
• Participate in an interview with student and parent. And HTA features a rigorous admissions process. Each year, a
limited number of qualified students are enrolled. Interested high school students may apply in the spring term of their freshman or sophomore year in high school.
An admissions committee consisting of staff from Tri-C and CMSD reviews all applications and makes final selection decisions.
