INTERVIEW WITH FINE ARTIST: JEWLZ

THE INTENSE EMOTIONS OF THE FEMALE CREATIVITY

By Ivan Gomez

Did you always want to be an artist? Is it a full time commitment or a part time commitment?

I wouldn’t call it a commitment. I’d say more of a passion And it’s a full time thing. I love art i see art at every blink of the eye.

What materials or media do you use the most to create your images?

I mostly use Acrylic paint. I’m a fan of texture and blend so i use Gesso Gel’s and texture Paste.

What kind of clients tend to approach you?

Good question, i would say the type of client i attract would be fans of abstract. I’ve had some logo painting before. But mostly abstract.

For those who have a hard time understanding abstract art, what is it?

Abstract art i believe is emotion based, so i would say there’s no rules, so let your heart and emotions paint, and of course understand the color chart has benefits.

Why did you choose abstract as one of your creative style of choice?

Keep reading below…

I favor abstract art because each piece has a story( example )playful ,or sadness. when i say no rules i mean each painting is free handed. Me and you can see the same thing but in different ways. I’m attracted to the type of ways people view some things.

How has your style changed over the years?

I wouldn’t say my style has changed much over the years. I’ve gravitated more toward abstract but i still enjoy a still life sketch with the good pencil to blend every now and then. Experience also plays a big part and to always keeping your mind available for growth.

Abstract art evokes a lot of emotions through color and composition. Can you tell us how you use color and composition to evoke emotion in your pieces?

I would say reality, “The Realist” view of pain and the realist reacts of emotions. What colors can you use to explain your story without speaking…(?)

The use of colour, light and dark, and shape is phenomenal, the works have such vibrancy, can you tell us more about the way you use these elements in your works and what you hope they convey to the audience?

In a story paintings I revolve around darker prime colors, texture adds the explanation mark on the canvas. The vibrancy on some of my paintings are my favorite. You want to grab attention use loud colors!.

What do you think about the Creative Community in Cleveland?

I have so many exciting goals for The communities creativity. I love Cleveland’s historical art and i am appreciating the contemporary Art I’ve seen around. I would love to see more creative gatherings.

And before you go, what piece are you working on right now? Whats in your studio awaiting paint

At this moment I’m working on about 5 different paintings. I know it sounds like a high quantity but it takes time for the canvas to dry, when the interest kicks in i take advantage.
