El Barrio Center for Workforce Development, a program of The Centers for Families and Children, provides free job training and supportive services to prepare individuals to enter the workforce ready and motivated. El Barrio meets job seekers where they are with a tailored approach based on an individual’s current skills and interests. Clients have the opportunity to interact with more than 40 locally and nationally known companies who are on-site monthly looking to hire directly from El Barrio training programs.
Programs include:
- Job readiness and job search training
- The only program in Northeast Ohio that provides job readiness/job search services in both English and Spanish that includes:
- Case management services
- Structured curriculum on how to find, obtain and retain employment
- Job coaches, employer interviews and on-site hiring sessions
- Retention services for up to 180 days after employment
- Connections to local hiring companies to increase exposure to employment opportunities
- Pre-eligibility training for careers in construction and transportation through Greater Cleveland Partnership and RTA
- The only program in Northeast Ohio that provides job readiness/job search services in both English and Spanish that includes:
- Customer Service training
- Best practice model nationwide and replicated in other cities around the country
- National bank teller training, and emphasis on healthcare, call center and retail
- More than 25 brand-name companies teaching in the program
- Opportunity to earn three industry certifications
- Hospitality certification training
- Classroom and on-site skills training for housekeeping, janitorial, restaurants and cleaning services
- Opportunity to earn three industry certifications and employer exposure to entry-level participants
- English as a Second Language (ESL) classes
- Teaches reading, writing, comprehension, listening and speaking
- Free case management and supportive services
